Disconnect Fees and Problems (350 reviews)
Run for your Lives!!!
“ Signed on with US Energy Savings, with a fixed rate, and the first bill was wonderful, much lower than my previous provider. The next bill wasn't recognized, because it now said Just Energy, so I put it in my junk mail pile. When my lights were disconnected, I learned that Just Energy WAS my electric provider. I saw bills that increased monthly from $300 to $400 to $500 to $600, and cancelled. My final bill with the cancellation is now over $1200--over $800 of that is the cancellation fee. I am a single woman on partial hours and I just feel ROBBED by Just Energy. ”

Lack of empathy/No payment confirmation through email
“
New review for today: Sat 5/18/2024
Ive been a Just Energy customer for years now and on 5/9/2024 I did a payment arrangement to avoid disconnection on my service. Payment went through but never received an email confirmation by Just energy like I normally receive with the terms. Today 5/18/24 Saturday Im speaking to a representative over the phone a guy most likely from India about not receiving my payment confirmations like I normally receive them and he blames me that it is my email address or email domain at fault. He then tests and sends over a bill through email while on the phone and comes through right away with no issues and along with a survey for me to answer, but not a bill of confirmation of payments made. He explained he wont fix anything on their end nor bring it to the attention to their IT because Im just one customer complaining about the payment issue and no one else is. This is terrible customer service and I tell him how are we supposed to be making payments, if we wont have any proof of payments being made with no confirmations? I can always change companies for this reason since I do not have the trust in Just Energy to just take their word that payments are going through, when I cant get proof by email nor mail that payments are going through.? This will not work for me! Either fix the issue with payment confirmations that customers can receive by email or you will loose a customer over this. He tells me he wont do it and he cant stop me from leaving to another company. Very lack of respect on his part with customers. If one customer service representative does not care and says words like that, trust me when I say no one else in that company will care either. The rep and most likely the whole company believe that customers not receiving their payment confirmations are not a big deal! and that will allow them power over customers to decide when or when not to disconnect your service since their is no proof of payments. This is a bad company for business!! And I am currently searching for new service elsewhere online as we speak. Because just like that rep told me over the phone he cant keep me from leaving. He was right! They lack empathy. My concern is I need to know where my money is going to with proof. Not your word. Your word means crap. No confirmation receipts no payment made. The way I see it. You dont care for customers, then we do not care for you! and we will take our hard earned money and go somewhere else where we are truly valued customers. And no false advertisements ”

Lost Payments
“ I have been paying my bills with online bill pay through my bank for the last 3+years. we bought a new home and called to transfer service in January. We closed and moved in Feb 2023 no problems then in March I recieved a disconnect notice. I have never missed or been late on a payment. I called several times, finally get a rep that can somewhat explain that they had not recieved my payment I pulled up my bank account and sent them proof of payment, It was EFT as it had been from my bank. The rep demanded a copy of the check front and back telling me that the bank mailed them a check. I explained several times it was EFT (electronic funds transfers) Reps have poor listening and reading skills. I sent them proof of payment and they swear they never received any. Funny thing the only thing that changed was the account number for think energy. So how is it in January they have the payment but in February, March and April they Lost the payment? They have been taking EFT from my bank for as long as I have had them. CONTACT THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF TEXAS 1-888-782-8477 ”

Frontier Utilities is a horrible!
“ Frontier Utilities is horrible! On Jan 31, 2023one of the coldest days in Magnolia, TX (35 degrees)Frontier disconnected service after I paid half of my bill $898 (highest in my life!) as directed to avoid disconnection on Jan, 30. My 95 year-old mother, who is a stroke survivor was without heat, oven, nor refrigeration. Again, I contacted Frontier Customer service which takes up to 20 mins. to speak to humans (who are in EL SALVADOR) they said I was supposed to contact them after payment and I nullified the agreement even though I paid exactly as directed.I have lived in the same single-family residence without any change in sq. ft. nor additional appliances for 15 years and HAVE NEVER had the high bills I have received from Frontier over the last 8 months supposedly on a 0.13 cent/KWht rate. Ultimately, their practices are unethical, their fees are SO exorbitant, and their customer service so difficult to communicate withI am another energy Servicer. The $150 fee is nothing compared to their charges/fees/rates/penalties they have taken me for up to date. Dont be fooled by their allegedly low kilowatt rates. Its a deceptive trick. You will pay in every way! ”
