I am the energy account holder of record, the account holder's spouse, or an authorized representative of this account over the age of 18. By submitting this enrollment request electronically, I affirm that I have read and accepted the Terms and Conditions provided on the website in electronic form. I voluntarily authorize Direct Energy to take all steps necessary to provide me with my product selection, up to and including obtaining necessary information from my utility company to begin or continue service. I also authorize the company or its representatives, if necessary, to contact me or an authorized representative of the enrolled account(s) at the contact information I provided to complete my enrollment, including by placing calls or texts to my cellular phone or landline using automatic telephone dialing technology and/or pre-recorded messages, and even if my phone number appears on any national or state "do not call" list.
Your Authorization to Release Your Energy Usage Information: By checking this box, I acknowledge that this contract provides my authorization for my utility to release my energy usage information to Direct Energy so Direct Energy can provide its products and services. The type of information disclosed may include current and historical usage information along with billing determinants, bill cycle, budget billing status, address, account type, tax exemption status, rate service class, load profile, demand data, meter number, special account exceptions, standard service status, electronic interval data when available, credit information when applicable, and all other data and information permitted by law to be disclosed to Direct Energy to provide its services. In addition, I understand that Direct Energy will share information about my account with its affiliates or third parties to the extent necessary to provide services, rewards or improved products to me, or as required by law.
By checking this box, I also acknowledge that 1) under the rules and regulations of the utility commission where I reside, I may refuse to allow Direct Energy to release energy usage data that is more granular than monthly historical consumption data and 2) I freely give Direct Energy permission to release the information designated above, where such release is permitted by law. I also understand that my local utility company will send me an enrollment confirmation notice, and that I may cancel this agreement without penalty within 7 calendar days (for electric service) or 7 business days (for natural gas service) of the postmark date of the utility company notice by contacting the utility company. I will receive a cancellation number from the utility company.
I also acknowledge that my account documents, notices or other disclosures will be delivered electronically to the email address I provided, unless the company is required to send by mail or another format. If email does not work, the company will attempt to deliver account documents by mail. I agree to notify the company if my email address changes to ensure that my documents can be delivered.
I represent that I am not currently approved for or enrolled in Ohio’s Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP) or any such utility program. If I become approved for PIPP or my utility’s arrearage crediting program while taking service from Direct Energy under this Agreement, I promise to notify Direct Energy in writing in order to be switched to my local utility’s standard offer service after the next meter read date.
Continuous Service and Cancellation. I understand that this is a continuous service contract, and I will be charged monthly unless I cancel, the company cancels, or I switch to another supply provider. To cancel with the company, I can call, email, or visit the company website. Note: my utility controls the cancellation timeline, which means the company will continue to serve as my supplier, and charge me, until a final date set by my utility. In most states, this takes 1 to 2 billing cycles; in some states, the process only takes up to 10 days.
Auto-Renewal of Fixed Price Contracts. I understand that my terms and conditions, available in my enrollment confirmation email, will specify if I have a fixed-price contract that auto-renews at the end of the term. The company will send me a notice before the term ends with details on the new price, term length, and the date by which action must be taken to pick a different plan or switch to a different supplier. If I take no action, the plan takes effect and I agree to pay the charges incurred.
