Problems with Fees and Charges (590 reviews)
GREAT PRICE BAD SERVICE
“ I was originally attracted to this company by their low rates and I have had service with them for over 2 years. That is until today, due to the Christmas holidays I was unable to make my payment due on the 2nd of Jan. So I figured I would make it with my next paycheck on the 15th. However, by the time I paid my power had been cut off and now I'm facing massive connect and disconnect fees. When I spoke to a customer service manager "NORA" she told me those were their policies and quite frankly I got the feeling she could care less about my disconnected service. In an effort to get some kind of reaction from her I even went as far as to tell her that it may be time to change electric companies to which she replied "I'm sorry you feel that way." Now I can go up to 2 days without power. Not sure if they know, but its "WINTER" AND I HAVE 3 CHILDREN!! LESSON LEARNED: With this company you are nothing more than an account number. They are quick to disconnect and leave you dark! ”

They don't want to retain their customers
“ It has come time for me to renew my contract with StarTex. If I use below 500 kWh per month, they were charging me $4.99 as a minimum usage fee. Now they want to charge me $9.33 for a minimum usage fee for 1000 kWh, but I normally only between 500 and 900 kWh per month. This is a double whammy for me, which will be about a $100 increase per year in energy costs for me. When I tried to call and talk to customer service, she was nonplussed and told me that she couldn't do anything about retaining my custom. Sad really, as I like to be a loyal customer. Doubling the fees is a heavy-handed way to hike their rates. Before this, I had been very happy with them. ”

Disappointed in Price
“ When we ordered Symmetry, we werent aware we still had to pay Columbia Gas such high fees. For what little gas we use, our bills seem very high. ”

Lawyer
“ A double payment was made on 8/25. I called that morning explained I needed one cancelled it was an accident I have rent due. Associate said I can't it has to go one bill that is not due yet. Talked to supervisor she says she fixed it. No money call back associate says it went to bill and there are no notes from supervisor. Talked to another supervisor ok I fixed it. Look on my account says future bill was paid. No notes from that supervisor either. Needless to say now refund did not even go in effect till the 1st of September and they are still saying 10 days. I Want my Money and I want you to pay my late fees. Immediately. ”

DO NOT FALL FOR IT
“ This company is great at scamming but thats about all they are good at. Im a college student looking to save a quick buck and was essentially prayed on for that. The door to door person came to my apartments back door which was not appreciated because its directly connected to a bedroom. They were persistent with their deal and were very convincing when explaining the money I would save. This was far from the truth. As spring is coming around we turned our heat off and the bill continued to be the same. I go to look at my electric bill thru my main supplier and it was only $40!!! Yet I was paying and extra $100 due to the fees and being a member with IDT. I was shocked, these fees I thought were just our electric bill because I was not told about them, I have been paying on the for months and the money I could have save is unbelievable. I did not speak to a rep when cancelling my services but rather thru the live chat, overall was an ok experience but they did try to push new promotions on to me which I obviously did not take. So take this advice from a chump that fell for it and DO NOT use this companys services!! ”
