  A lot of these negative reviews are from people who dont know how to shop. If you sign up on a 3 cent rate of course your rate is going to skyrocket in month 4. Its like they are offering you a nearly-free trial and you want them to do it forever?! Sign up for a 12 or 24 month plan, shop around when your contract expires and enjoy the savings. Just dont get greedy and expect the low 3 month prices to be the rates you pay all the time.

  My experience with Commerce Energy has been uneventful. We signed up and haven't thought twice about our service. Everything has simply worked. We haven't had a problem with our bill or any other typical problem that many of our neighbors have with their providers. I congratulate Commerce for a job well done. :)

Initial promotion price great...long term savings not so much

  If you are interested in having a bill you have to pay monthly anyways help a charity then Xoom is a great option. It allows you to pay a bill you'd normally pay and donate to a cause you may care about. If you are interested in saving money then the only time you'll end up doing that is during the introductory offer on their flex plans. I had both gas and electric with Xoom and after months of comparing I found I would have been paying about half by simply going with my local supplier for electric (on both regular and 100% renewable plans) and there were many other options for better pricing on gas. I could have donated to the same charities Xoom participates in with the money I was saving monthly using a different supplier...probably could have donated more than what Xoom was from just my bill.

Issues being an AEP Ohio Customer

  It is time for me to sign up for a new electric supplier. I found a great rate at Constellation for 36 months. I tried to sign up on line, and kept getting an error code. I called in and spoke to a rep, who told me that since my SDI started with "000" I was not an AEP Ohio customer, I was actually with AEP Columbus Southern Power, which changed my rate from .549 to .579...pennies, I know however I was concerned that there would be issues with my bill because I knew I was, in fact an AEP Ohio customer (have been for 13 years...in the same residence). So I called AEP to verify with my name, address, account number, etc that I was indeed an AEP Ohio customer, and she says "Yes, you are definitely our customer". So I called Constellation again, trying to let them know I got verification that I was an AEP Ohio customer. Due to an error in their system, they cannot process me that way, they "have to process me as AEP Columbus Southern Power". I told the supervisor, George, that there must be an error in their system, and that I could not go forward with setting up my account because I was lacking faith in their system. I returned to the PUCO website and went to the next lowest price, which was .579 with Direct Energy, entered the same information that I gave Constellation (name, address, SDI, AEP Ohio) and the order was processed in less than a minute. Frustrating to know I wasted so much time today TRYING to give someone my business...but I wanted to put it in writing that you all need to check your system...it's wrong!

Scam!!!

  So they came knocking on my door telling me how they could lower my bill by 80$ at least and saying if i did want to ever cancel then to just contact them and tell them my guys name and the cancellation fee was only 10$. WRONG. What they failed to tell me when i agreed to sign up was itd be 10$ Fee for every month left in my contract. And they in fact did not lower my bill one bit, when in all reality me being with them raised my bill by 30$ every month.when i was with the supplier for aep i used 1,448 kw and the bill was 176$ when i was using aep supplier. After i switched to this company i used 1,182 kw and my bill was 180$! Thats a 266 kw difference and yet it was the same price. They are liars and pure fraud. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR SCHEMES.

Dosen't Communicate Well

  After getting the Regulatory Body that governs Ohio Utilties involved, Titan Gas & Power re-rated the amount charged for electricity the final month of my contract. Between the time my contract ended with TG & P and the new contract began I entered a Varible Rate. TG&P took advantage and attempted to gouge me for alot of money. My rate was increased by 100+%. Anyway, due to confusion, I failed to pay my final bill. I assume responsibility for the final bill but TG&P turned me over to a collection agency without ever contacting me. I don't recommend contracting with TG&P.

Varible Rate = Gauging

  When my contract was up and I ended up on a variable rate during the time I was waiting for my new contract to begin with another company, AP&G increased my rate for the last months bill by 100%. This is unethical price gauging. If this happens to you report the utility company to whatever authority governs utility companies. AP&G admits it did not send me a notice of a rate increase and refuses to rerate me at a lower cost for KWH. Such a practice places 'The Utility Choice Program here in Ohio in jeopardy.

Guerilla tactics

  A representative (who did not say who she was with until 3 minutes into her spiel) knocked on our door late at night, and immediately launched into a long stream of consciousness about our current utility rates and how she was going to lower them, she took our utility account numbers without giving us an option or questioning if we wanted to switch providers (which it wasn't even clear that was what was happening until the very end when we were speaking with a third party verification company). Not pleased that we were not even solicited for our business with their service but nearly forced into the decision without being given information, a choice, or even time to think or process what this lady was saying to us. I find it very objectionable that this is the way the company obviously trains their employees to enroll customers.

Cheap for the first 3 months. Then watch out!!!!

  I signed up with NRG after talking with a rep several months back. At first it seemed great because I was saving a few bucks on my electricity by going with them. After the 3 month contract special was up they kicked me into a higher priced tier for the next three months with my bill going up all three months. Even though I used less electricity in Feb 2020 it was even higher than Jan. My rate increased twice in the last 3 months.

Don't go with NRG.

Total Scam - DO NOT SIGN UP

  We used them for electricity. First 3 months was slightly lower than AEP. We forgot to call at the end of 3 months to renew the rate (which is ridiculous that you have to call every 3 months) and last month the rate was .064 (AEP was .054). Just got the bill for this month and now the rate is .084 (AEP is still .054). Complete scam artists. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Other family members have had the same experience with the price gouging. I cannot say enough now much I hate this company.

THE WHOLE INTERACTION WAS A LIE!

  The representative came to my door in my secured building that has a no soliciting sign really big directly next to the door apparently he came in behind one of the residence and was able to make his way through my building going door to door. When he came to my door I was literally told that he was from AEP and that he had been alerted by my smart meter that I had changed my service provider and had selected someone out of state That was actually increasing my bill he had another gentleman with him it was wearing construction like clothing and also hat on a reflective construction vest I was told that was the gentleman that was updating my smart meter and that again they were both from AEP so during this false conversation and me being under the impression that the gentleman was AEP I signed paperwork to get this out of state supplier off of my billing and just go back to AEP get my next Bill and Notice I am with yet another supplier! I DT energy! I am livid they havent saved me any money at all in fact my bill is even higher than what it used to be my normal monthly electric bill used to be $70 a month and now its $160 per month! I am calling the public utilities commission and reporting this company as well as the representative that came to my door for falsely advertising their service leading me to believe that they were AEP not IDT energy!!! The door to door reps are liars and Misleading so they can STEAL MY MONEY!! Well, I am NOT going to be laying that portion of my bill and per the REAL AEP, those charges will go right back to that supplier. PEOPLE BEWARE! IDT ENERGY IS A SCAM AND IF YOU GET SOMEONE AT YOUR DOOR MAKING PROMISES REGARDING COST, dont believe anything they tell you because NONE OF IT IS TRUE!

I thought monopolies were against the law?

  There is literally nowhere to get electricity except AEP where I live. I recently moved and for some reason the post office didn't bring my mail until a month later. By that time I was two months behind on my bill an AEP shut my electricity off whem it's 23 degrees outside and I have kids in my house. I looked in my mailbox and there was my first bill finally with my new account number on it that I needed in order to pay my bill on time. I called customer service and spoke to a supervisor and they both told me it was too bad and it wasn't their fault literally. I had to call the corporate office to actually get ahold of someone that was willing to waive the $53 reconnect fee that I didn't have that I was forced to borrow money to pay for so my kids wouldn't freeze to death trying to get my electric turned back on . Don't waste your time looking up AEP customer service cuz they will not help you. Look up the corporate office in Columbus they will actually listen to your problems

Verde Energy: Deceptive, Illegal Marketing Practices

  Telemarketers for Verde repeatedly call Do Not Call listed numbers. They attempt to give the impression that they are going to forward a refund "from your current supplier" until they get your account number and other info that they need to switch the account to Verde. Their telemarketers use a spoofed originating call number so there is another illegal/unethical practice. Good luck with your rates once these bandits get you on their system!

  They were giving me multiple supplier chargers I was paying over .19 a kWh when the market rate is about .06 a kWh and they never gave me my gift card I was supposed to receive Im with just energy now and I love them tell all your friends vista energy are scammers

TERRIBLE EVERYTHING!!

  I have been dealing with a billing issue with AEP for over 4 months!! Such a terrible experience and poor customer experience and service. When you call it takes FOREVER to get to someone who then is incompetent and usually has to transfer you. This is a terrible company with a very dissatisfied customer.
