Smart Prepaid Electric is an electricity provider operating in the deregulated Texas marketplace that specializes in pre-paid electricity. Smart Prepaid caters to customers that have advanced smart-metering systems to offer prepaid, or pay-as-you-go electricity service to consumers who may want to avoid paying deposits or signing a contract. Customers can then monitor their usage and how much power they have left through their personal accounts.

Smart Prepaid was created in 2010 by Fulcram Retail Holdings, who also operated Tara Energy and Amigo Energy. In 2011 Fulcrum Power was purchased by Just Energy.

Just Energy is a massive electricity and natural gas company that services Canada and the United States and has the distinction of being the largest green energy retailer in North America. In total, they service more than 1.6 million residential and commercial customers.
