My six months was about to expire and recently signed with a different company. I then called the new company and cancelled. NG and E was offering me a better deal so I resigned. I talked to Edward and he was very efficient and kind. Thanks to Edward, I made the right decision.

I renewed for 12months. The low rate was compared with other companies and I found this to be be the best at a fixed rate. I had a very diligent and caring team professional who got me a good deal. Thanks Edward.

Seems like others come here to rant but I happen to have a decent experience with the company. As long as you stay on top of your contract expiration then you should be fine, seems like to me that the other reviewers don't seem to do that which is why they end up with the variable rate.
A lot of these negative reviews are from people who dont know how to shop. If you sign up on a 3 cent rate of course your rate is going to skyrocket in month 4. Its like they are offering you a nearly-free trial and you want them to do it forever?! Sign up for a 12 or 24 month plan, shop around when your contract expires and enjoy the savings. Just dont get greedy and expect the low 3 month prices to be the rates you pay all the time.
Had them for about 8 months now. So far no major issues besides them not being open on the weekends, everything is fine. I got a great plan that was WAY lower then my utility had to offer and they have 100% USA customer service team which is great.
They always are one of the lower options online. Repeat customer in Ohio.
I am the one who shops for the lowest price. By my experience I can see that the 3-month plans will always be the cheapest!

been about 6.8 cents/kw
when it became apparent that i was switching to another company
ng&e started calling me, i let it go to voicemail, they sounded
like cold callers, they couldn't pronounce my name, they had
heavy accents, i could barely understand them
i wouldn't normally waste my time submitting a review like this,
but my experience with this company, was just awful, and
moderately costly (not that much, but it was about 70 dollars
i guessimate) i only switch providers to save a little money
not to lose money or be ripped off, any amount.
Bait and Switch - Price Gauging - Rate Trippled after Promotional Period and was DOUBLE that of Duke Energy, tried calling them and they said "it is our perspective to charge whatever market rate we see fit and you did not renew to a new promotional contract so that is that...did nothing to earn or keep my business! Beware of their seemingly low promotional rates!
Joined for 3 month intro rate and at end called set up 6 month fixed rate.. I know what I set up I am very good at knowing my bills!! My fault was believing them .. after 3 months they started charging me more than local co. And I didn't notice until I went in to update new contract at end of 6 month supposive contract.. They send an email at time of agreement and I didn't open my attached PDF.. again my fault.. which I think they count on . It was for 3 month. I called and asked if they record my agreement which I got that would of had to be looked into and told by their rep they don't offer 6 month fixed rates .. total lie ! Cost me a months worth of electricity with difference they overcharged. Lesson learned don't believe a word they any say and seems they do this often ! Will be reporting them to whoever will listen !
I am a 70+ senior citizen living in a home ( a single story) with my spouse and the current months charge is $650 service charge on top of electric charges of $250. I was never notified that the pricing would go up and the cs rep told me my usage was 200% higher than normal, give me a break at 70 years old how can I use 200% more electric than normal. The 3-month period ended, what 3-month period? CS rep read totally from script and refused to do anything about such an outrageous charge. Of course I cancelled with them and going back to local supplier. Would never recommend this to anyone. This is what is wrong with this country, greedy companies such as this taking advantage of senior citizens as well as other paying Americans.
Signed up for the 3 month .0459 rate, then without notice to what the new price would be, my next bill showed a rate of .1299. My rate TRIPLED without notice. I did not find out until after the new bill arrived, and by that time I have to wait another month until the next meter reading to switch. I'm paying these' ass hats highway robbery for two months and that's not right! I switched to another provider with a 12 month contract who had much better reviews. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM! An honest company will try to work with you to lower your rate and make right what is wrong. Not these people, they will take you to the cleaners for the two months they legally can. Hopefully they will be out of business sooner rather than later. I will NEVER do business with these people again. STAY AWAY PEOPLE!!
I am a 75 year old on a fixed income. Don't know how my supplier was charged to this company. Back in August I noticed that my bill doubled. I contacted them and told them i dont want to use their company. 3 months after they are still biling me. Contacted the Maryland Public Service Commission to resolve this for me. They should be shut down.
I agreed to a 6 month fixed rate with this company. We then moved to a new apartment. My husband spent an hour on the phone with them trying to reset our contract with them, which is annoying because we are now under contract with them for significantly longer than the initial 6 months. WE received the new welcome package the same day we received a $100 bill for breaking our contract. Why will I arrange to keep them as a provider if they will charge $100 anyway? And it is annoying having to spend so much time on the phone to resolve these issues
I re-signed with National Gas & Electric in August 2017 for a fixed rate. It's November and I still am being billed an incorrect higher rate. I have spoken multiple times to their customer service team who have promised to correct the problem. I have also written on their website for customer complaints. Still nothing.
They are crooks!
This company doesn't deserve one star ratings. Numerous red flags, i.e. none of their reps speak competent English,
different rate/different story with every call. Believe the reviews.

My contract was up and never notified me, the month of December and charges me 99 cents a therm!! My bill was 444.00!! Customer service was horrible! No one knows what they are doing there and they blame everything on Nicor!!!!!! They dont even deserve one star, please everyone be careful with this supplier
Targeted my elderly mother and switched her over the phone. Nicor was excellent in helping to switch the account back. Report the scammers to the Commerce commission. You won't be the first.
I'm terminating my service. I called to terminate and someone by the name of David told me it would take 2 to 3 billing cycles. I talked to the local bge and they told me that's not true it should only take 48 hrs. I called them back and talked to someone named Sam and he backed up what David said. I will be contacting the better business Bureau.
Told me what I wanted to hear to sign up and now I'm stuck with an early termination fee of $50. I was feed lies and the "Supervisor" I spoke too could care less, very very unprofessional, STAY AWAY!!
When my contract expired at 5.9 cents but hadn't yet moved to a new provider, National Gas and Electric moved by per KW rate to 17.9 cents. This is basically fraud in that their contract never stated they would charge me the highest rate possible, higher than any other provider.
Do not sign with this company, you have been warned.
I received a call from a telemarketer. The offer for a ComEd account was 7.99 cents per kWh for three months. A 30% savings was claimed (which is a lie). Plus a "discounted" rate of just $5.89 customer charge per month. These rates are very high and from reading what other victims wrote on this site, the rates are then greatly increased after the initial "teaser" rate.
The telephone offer (7.99 cents) was more than 15% higher than competitors per kWh plus an extra monthly (made up "customer fee") of $5.00.
A quick check of competitive pricing, from multiple suppliers, at UtilityDiscount.com revealed a low 6 month fully fixed rate of 6.89 cents for six months and 7.49 cents for twelve months and no extra monthly customer charge. Shop and compare before you sign a contract. Lastly, NEVER PAY a miscellaneous "CUSTOMER CHARGE"
Only consider suppliers who offer a fully fixed, per kWh, product and then compare with your current charges on your electric bill. If the price offered is less, then switch. https://utilitydiscount.com is a good source for current prices. I knew better than to sign up, but clearly the get customers.
This company's caller claimed to be "a ComEd supplier", which is false per ComEd. And they are not the best rate, either. For any competitor, not just this one, find out what all the startup/cancellation/etc fees will cost you in the end, just to get an artificially low and temporary rate. When I identified myself for the second time as a person taking a message for my mother, who is the homeowner, this vendor hung up on me. And that's how I know the caller ID number is no good. Tried it three different times.
I wish I could rank this sham business as a ZERO. I cancelled my contract with them due to skyrocketing rates and switched to Direct Energy. Direct Energy notifed me shortly after that my contract had been cancelled. I checked and Verde was listed on my monthly bill as my new supplier. I called Verde and they said that NGE had sold all their PA accounts to Verde and my contract was one that was transferred at double my Direct Energy rate! I called NGE and they told me they received notification that I switched to Direct Energy but they never cancelled the transfer. I told them I wanted to be reimbursed the diffence and they told me no. I told them I was reporting them to the PUC and then they said they will reimburse me up to the "local utility rate" but would not tell me what that was. They also said it could take 3 -5 months for it to show up on my bill. STAY AWAY. They were extemely rude and are unethical. Don't be taken by them! I plan to blast this all over social media to alert people. I hope other victims do the same.
I received a letter from another supplier requesting I be switched. That's when I called Comed to find out what was going on. Comed then informed me that National Gas was my supplier. I have no idea how they became my supplier witch is a lot higher then Comed anyway. They couldn't answer my question. I informed them to cancel that account and switch it back to comed. Well a month later it still has not been done. These people are a fraud and needs to be stopped. They are ripping people off and act like there is nothing the consumer can do about. I am now dealing with the ICC
The post card read lowest qualifying rate: 5.95 cents/kWh, terms available: up to 24 months. So I called multiple times, placed on hold...until I finally got through. The service rep had an attitude from the get go - short and impatient. I came to learn the 5.95 cent tickler rate was fixed for only 3 months then a rate over 9 cents kicks in for 2 years. When the service rep realized I wasnt biting, she hung up on me. Dont waste your time & money!
Recently, I receive a letter saying my supplier has changed but I didn't talk to anyone on changing supplier. I call National Gas & Electric LLC about this problem and was told it was a mistake on their part. They accidently enrolled us(I wonder how that happen) and cancellation will take 1 or 2 billing cycle. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!.
I received a mailer from this "company" when I called to talk to someone, she put me on hold. Now I waited over 10 minutes for her and now I am heading into 60 minutes on hold since the rep put me on hold. WTH?!?! Is my time not valuable? I will be billing them for wasting my time on hold. And They will pay or I will send them to a collection agency. Not a company I want to do business with at all
Bombarded with calls from this organization on my personal and privately listed cell phone. Have spoken to reps to remove number, have block numbers from my phone (they use another) and. hung up on calls received. It just doesn't stop. You should definitely contact your state representatives and reinforce requests for federal "DO NOT CALL" legislation with higher fines and penalties for non-compliance. If fines were issued against these companies, we could pay off the deficit.
So they called me. Said they were WITH com ed. then later on they said they were authorized by com ed. anyway, they had all my account information already. they said i qualified for a lower rate because of my on time payment history. i was skeptical but was assured they were with com ed. they also would give me a lower rate for bundling with nicor. gas and electric.... makes sense right? i get my first bill. $30 commodity fee. real mad about it. my gas bill is usually only $20. so now its almost a $50 bill. saving me money huh? then they call me on THANKSGIVING to tell me that they made a mistake entering my information for my electricity. they put me in as a commercial business. re verified i was a house. kinda mad about it but whatever. then i look them up online and find they are probably scammers. i think i am going to have a problem getting this cancelled too.... might have to make a formal complaint with the consumer utility board or whatever it's called. of course they are closed the next few days so i cant even call to cancel until monday. HANG UP ON THEM IF THEY EVER CALL YOU.
This company has called my number at least 15 times this week. I have told 5 different service agents to remove my name and number and stop calling. They hang up on me mid-sentence every time.. They are so above board in business practices that they spoof caller ID to look like a local call coming in.. You cannot call them back as all the numbers are fake numbers.. That is technically illegal, but no one is doing anything about it.
They charge 40% more than the ComEd, they are scammers.
Was not ultimately happy with the company at all! I decided to not renew with them. However, they did not cancel my account, even though I did NOT renew when my 6 months was up, and I ended up paying a ridiculous rate! I am very displeased with this company! Join with caution!!!!!!
I changed my suppliers for gas and electric to NG&E in Oct 2019, gas was around .35/100 cu ft and 5.5 cents kWh, electric was for 4 months and gas for 6, no signup or monthly maintenance, I checked prices when agreements were up and decided to go elsewhere-BUT they dragged their feet and I ended up paying 8 cents kWh the first month after the contract was up, they dragged their feet so that I ended up paying 15 cents kWh the second month! This took too long to change over, and I ended up paying almost THREE TIMES what I had been paying while under contract. Do not deal with these thieves.
They fail to mention it to you, but the more electric you use the higher the price for their electric, my bill from summer changed from .069, in summer to .099 in the winter when I turned my heater on, they told me that I used more this month than last month so mI had to pay more for my electric! not just one set price!
Prey on senior citizens, and then threaten them. Won't answer phone stating too many calls!
After initial contract expiring I renewed with them online. On my next bill it was not reflective of the new contracted price. I contacted them to explain my situation. Worst customer service experience ever. No help and pretty much said I had no contract, then I tell them I have email and home mail conformation. When that failed for them, they then said I didn't put in enough account numbers. How did you get my info if you don't have right account number? I also tried to do the same process online and "forget" the last number (like they said I did), and not possible will not let you continue without full account number. So they did absolutely nothing and the following month they charged me .12/kwh. More than doubling my regular bill. Definitely would advise anyone to stay away or switch as soon as your first contract with them expires.
Beware of this company. I switched from National Gas & Electric 3 days before my contract ended. My electric company did not complete the switch until the following month. For my last billing cycle, NG&E bumped my rate from 4.49 KWH to 12.29 cents per KWH. None of the rates on their website are that high! And they are not intro rates.
I called and asked for an adjustment and was told no way. So beware and watch your timing if you switch to another company. I have been seeking the lowest rates for years and never had a company do this to me. I do not recommend National Gas & Electric to anyone.

Scammers!!!!! Read reviews before going to another supplier. Wish i had known what i know now. Rate went from .0379 to .1384 per kWh. I called them and they said that is the going market rate. I called her out and said there is no way that is the going rate based on the market. Everything i have saved over the years just went to this piece of crap establishment and then some! I wish there was some action i could take against National Gas & Electric!!! Based on reviews, there are many many ticked off customers! grrrr

Signed up for a rate of $.046 back in the summer and then come the coldest month of the year once I was in the variable rate period the rate is suddenly 5X that!

First 3 months were fine. Rate of 3.79. Got a letter stating my contract would end but i didn't need to anything as it would be a variable rate. I let it slide for one month and got a $468 electric bill!!! They charged me almost 15!!! There was no transparency and no way this shouldn't be illegal. What is our recourse!?
They will intentionally offer a 3-month promotional rate in the early fall, so it will end during the coldest winter months and they will raise it 5X (from $.038/kwh to $.156/kwh)! They will call this the "Market Rate", however the comparison rate on my bill was $.056! Not surprisingly, they cannot provide me any documentation showing where they come up with this "market" rate. Read the reviews! This is a trend.
Asked the telemarketer when I agreed to signup what would happen after the 3 months were up. Told I would be put on a variable rate. I asked how much it would go up and was told a few cents. Two months after the 3 months were up, my rate went to 18 cents. The next month went to 20 cents. I can't get off for 3 months. The people at NG&E won't let me signup for a lower rate because I have opted out. My home company claims they can't stop it for 3 months. Not exactly clear as to why this it. I don't know how these people sleep at night. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE NOT REGULATED AND CAN CHARGE YOU ANY RATE THEY WANT!!!
When my contract evidently expired two months ago, with no notice I might add, the price jumped to $0.1899/KWH. SCAM! Just switched to a higher rated supplier at $0.0495 locked in for 36 months...
Got a call, said they were my provider and was offering a reduced rate because of my good payment history. The rate they quoted was over .09 per kWh. Now I have to make sure they don't change my service!
Like others, when my contract expired in the middle of winter heating months the rate skyrocketed. At the same time they were "delayed" in getting billing info to Duke so I did not see that my new rate jumped from 4.9 cents/kwh to 18.99cents/kwh. Nice trick. It seems odd that they were never delayed before....They got me for a total of 5 months at this rate before I could get switched to another company. What they are doing may not be illegal but it sure is unethical. if you go with them make sure you get out on the day the contract is up.
Call five times in one day four of the five times I pushed 0 which was to tell them I was not interested still got a call after that so I found out which company it was the guy insisted his his rate was cheaper I told him my rate and my rate was cheaper than what his was he tried to convince me differently all they were concerned with was getting me signed up don't waste your money they are a rip-off outfit
I would like to start off by saying how rude of Kevin was to call my grandma several times just to harass her about switching companies after multiple times of her telling him no she does not want to switch at this time. The finale time he called her just to tell her she needs anger management. My grandma is a single elderly woman that has been through hell and back and doesnt need this on her plate. So please if some from the company would like to give me some contact information I would love to speak to you one on one:).
I declined their offering and service, yet these scoundrels set themselves as my chosen provider.
I was traveling (job) and did not receive the confirming email until beyond the cancellation deadline.
File a police report for fraud, identity theft and elder abuse and they will suddenly have a change of heart and cancel waiving the cancellation fee.
