The Artemis II mission has the world buzzing with excitement. It’s fun to imagine what it would be like to explore the stars. Ohio Earth Day Nature Sights
Does your family want to chill and enjoy Ohio’s natural beauty? Then you might enjoy lazy strolls through some of Ohio’s natural gardens and arboretums. In short, take some time to visit lush gardens full of rare flowers and trees and reconnect with the planet. Some like Beech Creek are even hosting special Earth Day events later this month.
If you’re more into water features, then you might also want to check out Brandywine Falls in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Northfield. I can personally share how breathtaking the waterfalls are and why it’s one of the most popular attractions of the park.
Animal lovers might be interested in seeing real live alpacas and a huge variety of other critters over at Majestic Meadows in Medina. There are over 20 acres of land that you can explore with a self-guided tour, as well as other events throughout the year.
Kid Friendly Fun For All Ages
Kids of all ages might love checking out the SKiP Stow Kids’ Playground in Stow, Ohio. It’s a packed colorful playground filled with climbing structures and slides for different age groups. Bigger kids can tackle an obstacle course, younger kids can play in a sandbox, and there are musical instruments to try out.
Don’t forget to check in with your local library. Most Ohio library systems have a variety of events, that include Earth Day fun. For instance, the Akron-Summit County system has events nearly every day this month, including family reading time for younger readers.
For older kids in Columbus, Ohio State’s Earth Day celebration will return to the South Oval from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on April 24. There will be music, local vendors, and Ohio State’s Dairy Club may bring a cow!
Energy for a Greener Planet
One of the best ways to help Ohio’s air and water is to cut the amount of carbon and pollutants from power plant generators. Ohio currently ranks 12th in the nation for installed utility scale solar generation. That’s about 6,339 MW or enough to power 463,857 homes.
